Knight Tournament Starts at Medieval Town Cherven
A second edition of the Knights Festival will take place from 3rd to 6th of September at the Medieval town of Cherven, Bulgaria, announced the Regional Historical Museum in Rousse. They are the organizers of the event in cooperation with The Moscow Knight Club and the company El Magnifico.

The feast’s participants will felt the medieval atmosphere with a variety of attractions and demonstrations like a fiery show, knight tournaments and etc.
The guests of the festival will have the chance to put on armour, to shoot with a bow and even to make by themselves their own coppers with the seal of Cherven Fortress. The programme includes a concert of the Russian singer Julia Dushkina, vocalist of one of the famous rock bands in Russia – Gong.
In the ancient times, the town of Cherven was amongst the most significant military and economic centers of the Second Bulgarian Kingdom (XII – XIV Century).
Its location in the valley of the Rusenski Lom River and the close location to the capital of Veliko Tarnovo predetermined its development. Now, a big part of the fortifying system of the town, which in XII Century became headquarters of the medieval Cherven bishopric, is well preserved.
The town reached its bloom in XIV Century when it widened its territories and have become a place with well-developed crafts, iron-production, constructing and woodworking. The tourists, visiting this ancient place, can explore the old castle ruins, the underground water passages, the administrative buildings and homes, the workshops. The three-storey fortified tower is fully preserved, too.
