Mysterious Thracian musician Orpheus

The event will start with ancient traditional custom “Napyavane na kitki” (chanting on nosegays) and public revelry in the village center with the participation of folklore singer Rositsa Peicheva and performers from the neighbor villages: Nastan, Giovren and etc.

The feast will continue with a torchlight procession and a fiery show in front of the entrance of the “Devil’s throat” cave. This breathtaking nature phenomenon is considered as an arena of the legend about Orpheus, who descends to Hades’ Underworld Kingdom to find his ladylove Eurydice. The feast will finish with spectacular fireworks. An old trade street will be built in the village center, where the guests can learn more about the skills of the craftsmen, farmers and so on.

For those who intend more sightseeing and attractions in the village, we would recommend visiting “Devil’s throat” cave, where is situated the highest underground waterfall on the Balkans (42 meters). The cave attracts extreme lovers not only with its depth but with its mysterious underground river too – the water engulfs everything and never gives it back.

There is also in Trigrad a Bear museum. The brown bears populate this area of the Rhodope Mountain and in the museum you can learn in details about this animal’s habitats. The “Haramiiska” cave is a wild place for true extreme-adventure lovers – climb down the rope in 40-meters cave precipice.

“Arkan Khan” hotel offers horse ride, include multiday excursions, archery, and other attractions. You can also find the famous healing “Mursala” tea in Trigrad, and another nature mystery could be seen here – the plant Haberlea rhodopensis, also named “Orpheus flower” and ”Immortal plant” because of its remarkable ability to survive very long periods of desiccation.
