In the last three days of August traditionally hold the “Feasts in the Valley of The Thracian Kings” in Kazanlak, Bulgaria. In 2015, the event will complete its tenth anniversary.

Feasts in The Thracian Kings Valley

During the feast, craftsmen will perform different ancient techniques in specially created open-air workshops.

A recreation of traditional “Thracian camp” is a part of the initiatives, included in the three-day feast. One of the special events includes horse-riding, archery and spear, ancient rituals and ceremonies. They’ll be presented by Bagatur Society.

Art photographers from all parts of Bulgaria will show their creative view of nature and sights around the area during the festival days.

Due to the ancient sources, the Thracians had the knowledge of the vine and were masters in the production of finest Thracian wines. The mastership of their successors will be proved during an exhibition of Bulgarian wines 28th, 29th and 30th of August 2015.

The traditional Thracian costumes have been so similar to other ancient clothing, like tunics, cloaks, robes, sandals and etc. A review will show their color and decoration differences according the social status of the Thracian people. The restoration of the costumes, made according historical finds and descriptions, will be presented on the “Sevastopolis” square, on an open-air stage.
